While I agree with you about the faults of our current system, I do note that the value of the dollar has been rising of late, in spite of the increase in the federal debt. I don’t see anyone talking about that.

I also agree with you that we need a more democratic money system.

But I’m not totally convinced that the Fed controls the money supply very tightly. The size of the money supply is dependent on the willingness of the banks to loan money. After 2008, the number of loans sold dropped precipitously, and that exacerbated the recession we were entering. With less money to loan, there was less money in circulation to keep things going.

Hopefully, we will find a better way, and soon.
