To Engage in its War, Israel Must Have One Petty and Avaricious God to Obey
I have the feeling of being swept away by the currents as I’m watching this war unfold. I see how Israel’s government fights so hard, ignoring international law to achieve its objectives. And the closer I look at it, the more I see a deranged leadership that is absolutely convinced that they need Palestine to go to heaven.
Some Israelis believe that God has gifted them land that they need to go to heaven. That must be some very special land and Israel is engaged in an existential tussle over it. They’ve been “settling” that land since 1948, and they believe that it is their right to take the land. It doesn’t matter how many people they have to kill for it because they’re preparing for the Second Coming, and they don’t want to miss it.
I had long ago learned that Christians and Jews have beliefs that diverged primarily around the end of the First Testament of the Bible and the beginning of the Second Testament. I now know that I was wrong. There are many, many Jews who believe that Jesus will return and that he will rule over us upon his return.
He will take in all the believers. Everyone else will go to hell.
I’m not making this up. The Chosen People ministry was founded in 1892. They believe in all of this, and they’re not the only ones. They believe that it’s God’s plan for Israel to take all of what was Palestine as its own, to the exclusion of all other peoples. They believe that their faith in God entitles them to the land they now carpet bomb with glee.
One day, not too long ago, I found the website and the Doctrinal Statement of the Chosen People Ministries. I will admit that my jaw hit the floor upon reading this. I have long wondered how deep this goes. The wording, the citations, and the formatting of their website tell me that they believe this with deeply held sincerity. Here is the first screenshot:
