I went with my family to a moon festival at a city park yesterday. It was already getting dark when we arrived. All the food had been sold. We stood in line to get a free lantern, but they were gone before we got to the other end of the line. Then we walked around the pond, in procession. The drums were beating in my ears. People were already leaving by the time we found our friends there.
There was nothing more to do, so we left.
It was so temporary. There was not even enough time to enjoy ourselves. It was too dark to enjoy the park. The walk was nice, but there is only so much one can enjoy walking in the dim light from the street nearby. And that’s where America is now. We arrived so late.
Yesterday, there was a cause for celebration in Ukraine. The Ukraine army had launched a counteroffensive and reclaimed some territory. Everyone will breathe a sigh of relief to see the war turning around. well, almost everyone.
