The purpose of the war in Israel is to ensure that nothing will fundamentally change
The subtext of Israel’s war against Palestine is that Israel isn’t democratic and it doesn’t actually promote democracy.
Every so often, I’m reminded of something that Joe Biden said to donors as a candidate for the office of President of the United States. In a room full of rich donors, loaded with money taken from the labors of other people, Joe Biden said that if elected, “Nothing would fundamentally change.”
Remember, we’re talking about someone who, as Vice President, saw to it that none of the CEOs of the largest banks in the country, would ever see a day in jail after the collapse of the housing bubble in 2008. Biden helped to promote policies that shipped millions of good manufacturing jobs overseas over the last 40 years — probably the largest contributing factor leading to the collapse of the housing bubble in 2008.
Since he made that comment to inform his donors that nothing would fundamentally change if he was elected, I’ve been using that as the context of everything that he’s done since he took office. I think his unrestrained support of Israel is a reflection of his attitude that nothing should change. The war in Israel is to me about keeping things the same.
