The Average Age of Ukraine’s Army is 40 and America is Not That Far Behind
If you believe that Ukraine should win, join the front!
I’d believe the cheerleaders of Ukraine except for one thing. They’re not at the front. They’re not fighting with the soldiers of Ukraine. I don't see them writing from the front. I don't see them telling me how many of their friends have died. I don’t see my American peers who wave blue and yellow flags recounting how much they miss home from the front. But they sure are enthusiastic about urging Ukraine on to win the war.
The average age of America is almost 40 years, or about 38.9 years to be exact. From the Census Department, 22 June 2023:
A third (17) of the states in the country had a median age above 40.0 in 2022, led by Maine with the highest at 44.8, and New Hampshire at 43.3. Utah (31.9), the District of Columbia (34.8), and Texas (35.5) had the lowest median ages in the nation. Hawaii had the largest increase in median age among states, up 0.4 years to 40.7.
That age distribution means that most Americans enjoy a life established with a job, maybe a family including a couple of kids. They have friends and maybe even a support network. I seriously doubt that Americans above the age of 40 have any inclination to suit up and fight a war. But I…
