Thank you for an unusual perspective on Tina and the Talking Heads. I became a fan in high school, and although I enjoyed the bass in their music, I didn’t really think of who played or even bother to find out.

Your article led me to try out the other band she played in, The Tom Tom Club. I found that I liked that, too.

I also liked how she framed her perspective in that she wanted to be seen as an artist more than a woman. I also like knowing that she built her craft without lessons, without a mentor, apparently. She was winging it and she built up skill from practice, and talent found it’s expression through that skill.

I’m sure I will flash on this article the next time I hear her music.
