When I see you, the media, and every other candidate pile onto Sanders with endorsements and poor coverage of the Sanders campaign, I see just how desperate you and your allies are to stop him. Bernie Sanders says he will not drop out and that he will continue to the very end. And I hope that he does.
Like any candidate, I think you should be thoroughly vetted, just as Bernie has been. Bernie is the right guy to do help us with that. If you want to be credible as a candidate, you need to appeal to the rest of us, Joe. And so far, I don’t see that happening. Maybe you’ll pick a token VP just to pretend that you really want unity. But I don’t feel that you do.
I saw you take 9 states in a walk on Super Tuesday. You didn’t hardly campaign the month before the Super Tuesday vote in those states. You didn’t have a ground game like Sanders did. Where Sanders is close or he is projected to win, ballot counts are slow and still in progress. I wonder how many ballots will be lost or uncounted. I think of Greg Palast.
Your last rally before Super Tuesday featured a seven-minute speech by you. Your endorsements from the other candidates who dropped out seem well coordinated. Your supporters say all that is fair.
But if you should happen to win the nomination, you won’t need my vote anyway. Your campaign and the press says as much. I got vote-shamed today by someone on Twitter. She told me that if you were nominated and I didn’t vote for you, that somehow my vote for someone else would be translated magically into a vote for Trump.
Is that how you want your supporters to treat us? I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. As a Sanders supporter, I would never tell other voters that if Sanders were nominated and they chose not to vote for Sanders, that would be a vote for Trump. That’s their choice and I’m OK with that.
I would like to see a fair election, but with the press so completely and so well coordinated on your side, I doubt we have that now. And considering the condescending behavior of your supporters on Twitter, I have no reason to expect a fair election.
This election is a bit of history I will teach my daughters about when they get older. I want them to know that there are people like you in the world. I see you selling access to the levers of power. 60 billionaires who donated to your campaign confirmed that for me. I want my daughters to know that story.
