Indeed. It is hard to be called out on one’s behavior and then be expected to change, without having the skills or a mentor to assist in making those changes.

To me, this is all about skills. The sooner we take responsibility for our actions, the easier it will be for us to acquire the skills required to improve our behavior.

And I agree with you, that our mistakes are not equal tot the sum of our masculinity. Owning up to our mistakes to do better is a masculine as well as feminine trait.

Framing our behavior in the context of skills removes us from black and white thinking, and it restores our agency, our ability to learn from our mistakes.
