I support Sanders for expanding the scope of debate. Whether or not he can do what he says he can do is irrelevant to me because all that depends on other people.

Besides, he has said it numerous times, “It’s not me. It’s Us.” He seems rather clear on the point that he can’t do it alone. He has also said that he’s not a savior numerous times.

What I really like about his presence so far is that he has brought issues to the national stage in a way that the other candidates can’t ignore. And many of them have shifted left, according to their statements. Now if someone else wins the nomination and veers right, they will have some explaining to do after using any of Sanders’ talking points to win.

I’m not as naive as you make me out to be. I get it that he’s a politician. I also get it that he’s still in Congress representing Vermont since about 1991. Despite being an independent, and a “socialist” he’s managed to keep winning elections.

If he somehow fails to meet expectations, I won’t be disappointed. He’s already done what I wanted someone to do for a long, long time: enlarge the scope of debate.
