I had to ask about public banking because your language reminded me so much of other articles I’ve read on the subject. I enjoyed reading your analysis because you brought up postal banking. I’m a fan.

I also like how you brought in the payday loan sharks to the discussion. I live in Utah, a state where only the state can sell hard liquor. Instead of seeing liquor stores on every corner, I see payday loan and pawn shops.

I’ve known people caught in the trap of payday loans and being unable to get out. I remember the escape plan that I suggested, too. Open a new bank account and let the old one dry up. Then make other arrangements to pay off the old loan.
