All I could think of while reading your story was, “China Study”, the largest longitudinal study of food and disease ever done.

And the fact that the ancient rich ate beyond excess reminds me yet again that people tend to assume a correlation between effort and reward, and then again, entitlement.

The problem then with entitlement is an assumption that somehow, just getting the reward will make us happy. Instead, the rich sometimes get their just rewards, not because they deserved their fate, but because they couldn’t make a decision to be happy with what they already had.
